WHY THE CHURCH MUST NOT ABANDON POLITICS

WHY THE CHURCH MUST NOT ABANDON POLITICS
Recent events in our country have raised the issue, Should the church avoid politics? It depends on what we mean by "politics;" But here are my views and reasons why I don't think politics should  be completely separated from our churches.
The Word of God has something to say about all of life, beyond just the spiritual. The Bible also addresses the issue of governing in different texts. There are books in the bible that deals with political rulers---1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, Judges Genesis and in Daniel, we see godly men serving well for the good of all. In Romans 13 and 1 Peter 2, we hear that God has established the civil magistrate, and we are to obey the government. Also In Exodus, we see Moses rebuking Pharaoh for mistreating the Hebrews. It means, the Scriptures also teach that in some occasion, there may be a need for civil disobedience.
When the apostles were commanded not  to  preach the gospel, Peter said that we must obey God rather than man. If there is an either/or, then civil disobedience can be the right path.
Jesus said, "Render to Caesar ( Government) the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. According to Jesus, we have a positive duty to render certain obligation to the Nigeria state. When the Church does not speak out, evil will fills the Nation. Silence in the face of evil can signal assent. The Church is called to be salt and light. Salt preserves and prevents decay. Christians in Nigeria should help prevent corruption. Both in the church and in the nation.
We all pray, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." As Christians we bless everybody when we properly apply our faith to politics. Politics may be the calling of some in our congregation. Therefore, ministers should encourage political involvement that is motivated by the desire to serve the people only.
In short, our problem in Nigeria today is not too much Christian influence on politics, but not enough.
The church cannot abandon politics because it has to do with influence and power. Politics has come to stay in the church but the church must be careful about politicians not politics.
Our churches should be careful of some politicians not politics. Money is not evil but the love of money.
My brother politics is not evil but some poilticians. Proverbs 29:2 Says "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked beareth rule, the people MOURN. (KJB)
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people GROAN. (NKJV)

MY VIEWS
When the righteous FLOURISH in POLITICS,  the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
When the righteous THRIVE in POLITICS, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
